GeekUp Sheffield takes place on the first Wednesday of every month. It's a grass-roots knowledge sharing and networking social for folks involved or interested in all forms of technology and creative media.
This month is the launch event for GeekUp Sheffield, a regular social that takes place on the first Wednesday of every month. The inaugural lineup includes the following highlights (but expect more!):
Huddle facilitated by Marc Johnson: "Laying your legacy to REST"
An extended session looking at some of the technical issues of moving from a legacy system to a modern maintainable architecture. This hands-on lab will last longer than the presentations and you're encouraged to get directly involved in tackling a gritty real-world problem. Arrive early to avoid missing out.
Lightning Talks include:
- Lorna Mitchell: "Deploying Web Projects with Subversion"
- Ian Ibbotson: "OKCon and the Open Knowledge Foundation"
- Tamlyn Rhodes: "Thinking About Usability"
- Stuart Grimshaw: "How not to completely suck at Mario Kart"
If you'd like to contribute a 20:20 presentation or facilitate a Huddle at a Sheffield gathering, please get in touch or leave details on the GeekUp wiki.
